Premiere: The Erkonauts "Five Orange Seeds"

Premiere: The Erkonauts "Five Orange Seeds"

- By Chris Hudson

With obvious influences of Gojira, Mastodon and System of a Down, The Erkonauts sonically have found their groove and at this point should really be turning heads in the genre as they master the way to turn out thought-provoking, heavy music that elevates what metal music, and slap bass, can really be.

After ferociously kicking off the campaign for their upcoming album 'I Want It to End' (releasing Oct 1st) with "War Flamingoes" (featured on Knotfest's Pulse of the Maggots Unsigned Underground), The Erkonauts are back with another pounding emotion packed track in "Five Orange Seeds".

The track, inspired by the harrowing and deadly Sherlock Holmes story of 'The Five Orange Pips' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, warns of an impending doom.

"Revenge is set in motion
What has been done has a price
We cannot erase the mistakes of our past
Saints, sinners
Now is the time to repent for you actions
What has been done has a price"

It's hard not to wrestle with the current state of societal overhaul with the heart pounding brutality sounds and the lyrical high influence of that Sherlock Holmes tale's predator-prey flip of K.K.K. members that send five orange seeds to a soon-to-killed family, though ultimately find their own final demise aboard the 'Lone Star' ship.

"A final letter, no words just five seeds
Like father before me, I’ll pay for his sins"

The animated video is a visually stunning and mesmerizingly haunting re-telling of that "Five Orange Pulps" story with the dead coming up from the bottom of the sea to achieve their fiery revenge on the once thought to be unstoppable K.K.K. and all that they stand for.

Vocalist and bassist Ales Campanelli comments on the upcoming album, "This album is without a doubt my most personal work, and the most honest I’ve ever been with myself during the creative process. 'I Want It To End' comes from hard times, heavy struggles and a lot of self-loathing. It was kind of a make or break situation. I put my last energy into it and came out feeling totally rejuvenated. A therapy of sorts. The people who worked and played on the record totally understood the situation and gave stellar performances and guidance. 'I Want It To End' stands for a need for change."

Billed as the “darkest” of The Erkonauts’ full-length studio entries, the upcoming third album ‘I Want It To End’ bears the weight of troubled times, providing a brutally honest retelling of all that the band have endured over the past three years. The album has been drawn together from a previous line-up of musicians, including - Drop (guitars), Vinch Enzo (drums) and Fred Di Limoncelli (lead guitars).

Campanelli recently shared a bass playthrough video of the track on YouTube, which featured on Guitar World's website.
