Static-X and Sevendust Prove A Powerful Pair on the Machine Killer Tour

Static-X and Sevendust Prove A Powerful Pair on the Machine Killer Tour

- By Ramon Gonzales

Rounding out the second leg of the run, the veteran bands put on a masterclass in Madison, WI.

The pairing of Static-X and Sevendust along with special guests DOPE and Lines of Loyalty in the Machine Killer Tour has been such a successful combination the run has already confirmed a third leg set to begin in the spring.

The most recent phase of the tour began the second leg of its ongoing campaign at the start of February for a 22-date stretch that further emphasized a kind of resurgence both Static-X and Sevendust have had an active role in mounting. For the former, Static-X marked the arrival of their eagerly-awaited Project Regeneration: Vol. 2 - which debuted earlier this year and features some of the final recordings with departed frontman, Wayne Static.

For Sevendust, the Machine Killer Tour serves as a proper vehicle to best showcase live selections from their 2023 album, Truth Killer. Marking the band's landmark fourteenth studio full length release, the ATL veterans - some three decades into their tenure - continue to leave everything on the stage with the kind of convincing performance that makes fans, unwavering believers.

For both bands at the top of the billing, the dynamic of the Machine Killer Tour has been about toeing the fine line of celebrating legacy while showcasing the potential of the future. Both Static-X and Sevendust display that keen awareness in compiling the kind of setlists that revisit the hits, while emphasizing how well the new music melds into the set of familiar favorites.

This was the jovial, jubilant environment of the band's Madison, WI. tour stop. For Static-X, current era tracks like "Hollow" and "Zombie" proved as effective as the staples like "I'm With Stupid" and "Push It". Though there was likely no bigger pop then when the band tore into an electrifying rendition of "Wisconsin Death Trip" - appropriately.

As for Sevendust, contemporary entries like "I Might Let the Devil Win" and the title track in "Truth Killer" set the bar for a set that spanned decades worth of essentials. Anthems like "Denial", "Bitch" and "Black" each landed as direct hits with the fans - with the finale in "Face to Face" allowing the band to walk off stage in triumph.

The third leg of the Machine Killer tour kicks off this spring and begins with a highly anticipated performance at Sick New World in Las Vegas late April. From there, Static-X along with Sevendust will embark on additional 15-date jaunt that will include plays in the Pacific Northwest as well as Canadian dates. The third leg of the tour closes out on May 18th with a stop in Minneapolis, MN.
