Watch Today: Knotfest streams Violent Grief Sessions with Moon Tooth
Long Island's critically-applauded Moon Tooth will stream their Violent Grief Sessions today at 3:30pm PT/6:30pm ET via Knotfest.com.
The intimate acoustic performance of the band's Violent Grief: Acoustic Selections EP, will better bring into focus the versatility of a band that has earned praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Kerrang! and Brooklyn Vegan to name a few.

As for the EP, the five track collection is an acoustic exploration of existing selections sourced from their 2019 album, CRUX. Standout tracks like "Awe At All Angles" and "Through Ash" were given the acoustic treatment to complete an EP that added yet another dynamic to an outfit already known for their nuanced, detailed approach to crafting layered rock songs.
Punctuating the project, "Six of Swords" added a new track to the band's catalog and served to reiterate Moon Tooth's unique ability to be methodical as songwriters and musicians.
Both the cadence and presentation of the EP resonate as genuinely personal. The band's vocalist, John Carbone explains the inspiration, “Time is the only thing with a chance of washing grief away. It's a process that can be ugly, violent and in most cases not brief.”
Carbone continues, “In order to let time do it's work properly, a person must recognize the difference between the violence that's necessary and the violence that's clung to. At some point, grief is a choice. When time's done it's job, it's up to us to put the hurt down.”
Sharing the EP live for the Violent Grief Sessions, the intimate performance will begin streaming on Knotest.com today at 3:30pm PT / 6:30pm ET. In addition to performing the entire EP, the band has hinted at a few surprises in the works for the event.
Post-performance, the band will be joined by music journalist in Knotfest's own, Terry "Beez' Bezer for an after party brought to you by Saison 13, a Unibroue and Megadeth Beer.
