Venom: Let There Be Carnage' Gets Wild and Gruesome in New Trailer
2018's Venom proved to be a hit thanks to a bizarrely inspired performance from star Tom Hardy, who plays both Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist, and the alien symbiote named Venom that attaches itself to his person and grants him superpowers. Well, that and a ravenous need to devour anything and anyone.
In this sequel directed by motion-capture legend Andy Serkis, Eddie has been feeding Venom a steady diet of criminals that seemingly deserve to get chowed down on, but life has become rocky for the odd pair as time has passed. Eddie hopes to revive his flailing career by profiling a notorious serial killer named Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who's in a maximum security prison for his crimes. Cletus ends up taking a bite out of Eddie and winds up with just enough symbiote DNA from Venom to create a whole new and more dangerously brutal being: Carnage.
Writer Kelly Marcel returns to pen the script, only this time around she's joined by Tom Hardy himself, who helped put together the story. The film's release was pushed back several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Serkis has admitted that the delay has helped improve the numerous visual effects. It also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, and Stephen Graham.
'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' is set to be theatrically released September 15th in the UK and September 24th in the US.
