Watch Kaiju icons beat the hell out of each other in the official trailer for 'Godzilla Vs. Kong'

Following the release of Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), the plot line of Godzilla Vs. Kong loosely ties the previously releases together in an epic battle of the gargantuan kaiju icons.

The film is directed by Adam Wingard and stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Kyle Chandler. From what the trailer reveals, Kong's caretakers are trying to find the titan a home. The audience is also introduced to a young child named Jia. The orphan has a special rapport with Kong and that bond results in Kong asserting his power as her protector.

In pursing a home for Kong, Godzilla surfaces and begins attacking humanity, bulldozing cities in his path. With conventional weapons rendered useless against 'Zilla, the only chance mankind has becomes apparent when Kong delivers a hefty hook when the two finally square up.

Watching two silver screen giants beat the hell out of each other with humanity waiting in the wings is the kind of cinematic reprieve just about everyone could use right about now. This is big, blockbuster popcorn type cinema and what looks to be a good time in a two hour action flick.

The Legendary Pictures, Warner Bros. release is part of the year-long run of films being concurrently released in theaters and streaming via HBO Max in 2021. With many theaters still not able to open due to the pandemic, the aim is to make up for lost revenue with streaming numbers and remain on-track with a regular succession of big movies for a global audience.

Godzilla Vs. Kong premieres on March 26th in both theaters and on HBO Max.
