Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Jon Batiste score big at 2021 Golden Globe Awards

Not that Tent Reznor and Atticus Ross were a lock, but given that the duo (along with venerated jazz and R&B musician and band leader, Jon Batiste) were nominated twice in the same category, it was a safe assumption that Reznor and Ross would probably score at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards.

Earning high praise from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Reznor and Ross managed to complete against themselves in the 'Best Original Score' category, tallying nominations for their musical contribution to the David Fincher film Mank, as well as the Pixar-animated sensation, Soul - a brilliant statement of versatility alone.

Ultimately taking home the trophy for their sincere homage to the genre in 'Soul,' Reznor managed to sneak in some humor during the acceptance speech. "This is the first work of art I’ve ever made that I can show to my kids.”

The win marks the second Golden Globe in the category for the dup of Reznor and Ross, with their first win happening in 2011 for their work scoring the film, The Social Network. They would again earn nominations in 2012 for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and again in 2014 for their scoring of the film, Gone Girl.

The film marked new territory for the team as Soul was the very first animated film that Reznor and Ross created a score for.
