Barry' is Finally Back in Action for Season 3
The multiple Emmy-award winning HBO series Barry is officially back for a third season of darkly funny violence and bizarre acting lessons. Created by Bill Hader and Alec Berg and starring Hader in the titular role, Barry follows the exploits of an experienced and precise hitman who catches the acting bug when he joins a class led by Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler) and meets aspiring actor Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg).
The show has received widespread love and acclaim for its mixture of crime dramas, Hader's distinct style of comedy, and complex characters. Both the writing and the performances across the board are intelligent, striking that miraculous balance of true emotional stakes and genuine hilarity. And of course, the whole hitman angle makes for plenty of excitement as well.
In the new season of Barry, the assassin is looking to change his ways, hopefully leaving his old life behind in favor of his newfound desire to perform. The official synopsis reads: "Desperate to leave his violent past behind in favor of his newfound passion, Barry (Hader) is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting. But getting out is messy. While Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play. What is it about his own psyche that led him to become a killer in the first place?"
Season 3 will feature new recurring cast members that include D’Arcy Carden as Natalie Greer and Michael Irby as Cristobal. The premiere episode is titled 'Forgiving Jeff' and is directed by Hader, as is the second episode, which is titled 'Limonada'. It's been three years since the end of season 2, with the prolonged delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down production on the series for a year and a half.
'Barry' Season 3 premieres April 24th on HBO and HBO Max.
